Apply and all Windows Updates and Asus Updates. Unfortunately, from step 2 onwards, this does not work in my favour. On contacting ASUS again, I was told this was because I have Ubuntu installed, which has deleted my recovery partition and there was nothing that can be done now. So now I want to take the machine back to its factory state of having Linux as its OS. This is something I have been meaning to look at as an option on my own current machine for some time now so the timing at least is right.
I have purchased an external DVD drive that is working fine but when I try to run the Linux recovery disc the computer will not boot from it. I have used the option of f2 to access the BIOS to set the optical drive as my preferred one to boot from but there is no option to set it. I am at a loss now as to how to proceed and wonder if anyone here can guide me in getting the machine to accept the DVD as bootable. I am not great with computers but I can easily understand any instructions I am given.
Tip : If there are crucial data you want to keep, please backup files to external hard drive before starting EEE pc restore to factory settings.
You can disable the Boot Booster option if it's enabled. But what if you are not in such a case? So far there is no other viable solution. As you may know, a clean install will delete everything on the computer, but that is what users don't want to see.
Thus, it's a wise choice to restore system image to new hard drive for disaster recovery or troubleshooting. Compared with traditional one key recovery software, it's more flexible and allows you to schedule backups in daily, weekly, monthly. In addition, it allows you to enable F11 or A key as well as boot menu to quickly access this software. Once something bad happens, you can use this system image to get your computer back. Follow the steps below.
