Passat 4motion manual transmission

Last edited: Jan 3, Extremely interested in the swap, especially clutch choices everybody is going with. Not sure what clutch yet. It needs to hold decent power. Yea, I'm not so concerned about the clutch. So you are using the used DMF one that came with your swap? Yes, I plan on using it till it goes bad on me. I am expecting it to last a few thousand more miles and I won't mind pulling the transmission in a couple years.

I didn't see the axles. Did you get those with your kit? The early 1. V6 sub frame also has that style trans mounts on both sides. Not sure about the rest of the geometry though. Try PMing Alphasenior on here. I know he has done a few swaps from auto to 5sp, and had to change the subframes to the 5sp version.

Not sure what he did with the auto subframes he took out, but worth the try. He is near Dallas. I can confirm that I used the stock auto subframe and fitted the 6sp mounts up fine with my 01E. What code is on your 6sp trans? Meanwhile, I plan on chopping these guys off and mating them with the female body harness from the euro audi. I added some nuts between the snub bracket and engine, it feels like it tightened up the transmission quite a bit. I'll have to record another video to compare.

My guess is the combination of passat and allroad parts dont quite line up in an ideal fashion for the passat snub. I get the noise right away in first gear at about 1k and it starts to quiet up some by around 2k.

I can still hear it while cruising down the road if I tap the fuel pedal and let go. I am running a mm clutch with a single mass flywheel.

Windex Top Post Dawg. I didn't really hear anything out of the ordinary from the video. Having dealt with a bad pinion bearing in my 01E , I can tell you that it is there all the time, speed dependent, loaded or unloaded.

I think as others have, that you have some part of the drive train grounding on the frame or body under acceleration. Have you checked the positioning of your mounts? I moved mine forward as it was getting close to hitting the firewall on acceleration - had the benefit of putting the snub mount further in the "cup" without shimming like you are trying.

The engine mounts were carefully placed when installed, I was aware of the slots. The transmission mounts have two 13mm bolts that hold it to the subframe so there isn't any adjusting that can happen there. Just to note that I had this noise before I replaced the engine mounts, trans mounts, and snub mount. I will place my camera underneath again tomorrow to see if I can find any rubbing.

Last edited: Aug 13, Yes I am taking about the noise. The flywheel in the car should be about My goal is to keep daily driving the car and have it hold up to the stage 2 malone tune. No vibrations or chatter. Are you using the organic disk or sintered paddle disk? Also did it work out with the stock starter? Last edited: Aug 15, Organic, and no, I am using the euro starter. Just remember to not turn the steering wheel. You can see the hole slots for the clutch and brake switches on the auto pedal assembly.

The ones on the pedal assembly from europe were different. I would assume this was due to a year difference but dont know at this point. Turned out later that this is what we had to do anyway. See electrical notes. The subframe is different between manual and auto transmissions.

Heres the auto subframe, and a part of my shoe! Clutch switch Cruise cancel. Your computer will need an input from a clutch pedal switch to shut off cruise if you step on the clutch pedal.

We double checked that the input shaft was going deep enough in the pilot bearing.. We did this by greasing the input shaft and trial fitting the trans to the engine and seeing how far the grease was pushed back on the pilot.

It was fine. We had some problems with the clutch.. None of them made a difference. It had the same ABS module as the 4motion and cruise worked on it.

Does anyone have access to the ladder logic for the cruise system? If someone has any insight I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Dec 11, 2. Dec 11, 3. Yep, did that. It is activated and the corresponding G is in the upper right. Last edited: Dec 11, Dec 12, 4.

Just for good measure I deactivated cruise and reactivated it last night. Dec 12, 5. Dec 12, 6. Following up to myself If the BHW never came in a manual variant, sometimes there's an unusually deep root-canal necessary to convert it to manual, beyond most tuners.

Not all ECUs can just be switched with coding. Sure they did this right?
